A new novel from the world of aliens tells the life story of Colonial Marine private Jenette Vasquez, the popular wounded warrior known from the movie Aliens, and her family. Sealed her fate by an ill-fated mission to the planet LV-426, Vasquez has had to fight hard all her life to survive. Born into a family of immigrants with a long military tradition, she has always been drawn to the stars. But before she made it to space, she faced tough years in a street gang and later in prison, from which she found a tempting way out through her service in the Marine Corps. However, she had to pay a heavy price for her coveted career - giving up her young twins to be raised by her sister. Her children Ramón and Leticia must find their own ways of survival in life. While Leticia follows her mother's career in the army, Ramón takes up a career with the powerful Weyland-Yutani corporation. Their paths cross again on an unnamed planet whose planned future is spiralling out of control...
